Abstract
As one of the many activities conducted in support of the Sizewell B project, NNC was awarded the task of preparing the detailed specifications for the visual display unit (VDU) formats used by the control room operating staff. The authors set out some of the detailed technical considerations involved. For the purposes of this paper, the overall process has been termed `format design´ but the individual VDU display pictures have been termed `mimics´
