Abstract :
Metering/monitoring is a method used to obtain energy data while the trend analysis process is a method of converting data to useful information in the form of graphical and report output. The techniques of analysis using energy invoices, and unmetered energy consumption data, are discussed. Other optics covered include the evolution of metering and trending systems and their justification. Six reasons to meter energy are provided. The fundamentals of flow metering are noted, as are personal computer energy software and its applications. The ultimate goal of a metering and trending system is to assist the plant or facility in managing the energy required to produce a specific product of service. Monitoring and trending energy consumption allows for close control while minimizing expenses
