Abstract :
A center-fed circular microstrip patch antenna with a coupled annular ring was introduced in this paper. This antenna has a monopole-like radiation pattern within the broad bandwidth of the antenna. It has an attractive low profile configuration with a only 1.5 mm height (Lt 0.03 lambda at 5.8 GHz). The 10 dB return loss bandwidth of the antenna is 12.8% and a gain of 5.7 dB at 5.8 GHz. This antenna has a good potential for wireless communications.
