Abstract :
A chaotic retrieval method in a fuzzy associative memory system for generating facial expressions is proposed. Simulation results show that the proposed method has the following functions: 1) the memorized patterns in the range near an external input pattern are dynamically retrieved and the range can be restricted by one parameter which defines the degree of the system nonlinearity; and 2) the nonmemorized and valid patterns are retrieved. The results also show that the method can generate facial expressions that match a user image. Therefore, since a user can be automatically presented with facial expressions that better match his image and his image thereby gradually becomes clear, the proposed method is effective for supporting human creativity.<>
