Abstract :
A data transmission technique is proposed which affords a method of distributing the energy of a given data symbol uniformly in frequency over the radio channel bandwidth, and at the same time allows the energy to be distributed over a selectable time interval τ (comprising an integral number of data frames). The technique employs orthogonal encoding states and matched filter detection. A multitone transmission formate is appropriate, with the number of subchannels being variable. In principle, therefore, the new technique should be more resilient to perturbation in both time and frequency than conventional multitone data transmission modems. The proposed transmission techniques makes use of sets of orthogonal complementary sequences
