Abstract
Examines the application of digital receiver technology within an HF radar receiving array, indicating the performance improvements offered over techniques using more conventional analogue receivers with add-on A-D conversion. In particular, consideration is given to improvements resulting from the use of digital filters to replace analogue crystal filters in terms of linearity and passband response, improvements in FMCW demodulation, linearity requirements of the A-D conversion process, I, Q orthogonality and array calibration
