Abstract :
For an optical local area network one will require a well defined comb of frequencies and will wish to be able to tune a laser to any one member of this network comb. The authors propose a system capable of this and outline experiments and simulations which suggest that the proposal is well founded. The scheme of wavelength switching is similar to that of the coupled cavity devices (an elegant vernier effect) but uses injection locking. The authors specifically avoid any large external cavity being created thus making device operation much more predictable
