Abstract :
The National Grid Research and Development Centre (NG-RDC) used the object oriented programming environment and language, Smalltalk-80, for the development of a real-time demonstrator expert system to diagnose faults on the Supergrid power system in the UK. The author outlines the expert system project, describes the general experiences of Smalltalk-80 and suggests some improvements to auto-documentation, etc
