Abstract
The scope of the European Community (EC) directive on electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and its implications in the design and manufacture of electrical and electronic equipment for sale within the EC are outlined. Work being carried out at the University of York to produce computer aided design (CAD) tools to assess radiated interference from complete systems, at the design stage, is then described. The major problem of prediction of electromagnetic interference (EMI) from electronic systems is the computational complexity of the problem. The approach taken at York to overcome this difficulty is outlined
