Abstract :
Since its release in 1993, MedModel has continued to make substantial strides in the evolution of healthcare simulation software. Until its arrival, the complex interdependencies and extreme number of variable outcomes exhibited by the ordinary healthcare system restricted the use of simulation to large forecasting or trend analysis models. MedModel was specifically designed to be simple to use and tailorable to the needs of healthcare managers, engineers and clinicians. As such, it provides a basis for the comprehensive evaluation of large, complex problems which are representative of healthcare systems in general. This paper serves as a preliminary examination of some of MedModel´s comprehensive features and capabilities carefully designed to solve hospital and healthcare specific simulation problems
