Abstract :
A novel unsymmetrical anti-podal taper slot element has been proposed for array antenna to enhance the bandwidth of ultra wide band array. By using unsymmetrical taper slot structure, the aperture of the slot in lower band can be increased. Compared with symmetric anti-podal taper slot array in the same size, the relative bandwidth has been improved to 8:1 approximately instead of 5:1. Experimental results show the resonant band cover the range of 1.5-11.8 GHz. To avoid radiation leaning of the main beam, mirrored arrangement scheme has been employed for array antenna.
