Abstract
The performance of channel coding algorithms and coded OFDM systems has almost been analyzed exclusively at AWGN, Rayleigh or radio fading channels. For the first time, this paper gives simulation results of coded OFDM systems operating in realistic and statistically representative power line scenarios. Firstly, the best and worst cases of data and bit error rates gained with uncoded OFDM systems at access and indoor PLC channels are presented. Additionally, possible improvements by coded OFDM are analyzed. Eventually, detailed recommendations for PLC system design are outlined
