Abstract
The PRODAT is a nonstandard application-oriented database system which allows for the representation of design objects, supports the design process during the whole life-cycle, and permits cooperation between several designers or design tools. The data model of PRODAT is presented, with attention given to the notion of simple and structured objects and the version and configuration management facilities. The practical usability of the model is demonstrated in a case study.<>
