European standards activity in trunking and mobile data

In 1988 CEPT initiated studies on the features to be recommended in future trunked mobile radio systems in sub working group RES6. The author briefly discusses the European Telecommunications Standards Institution and then discusses the work of RES6 in more detail. The work undertaken by the three working parties is discussed. These groups are studying the service aspects, spectrum requirements, multiple access technique, network aspects and protocols
