Abstract :
The aim of this paper is to: 1) present a conceptual framework for distributed digital (control) applications which use a real-time local area network (such as fieldbus) for communication support; 2) define various parameters that are required by the framework; and 3) demonstrate the utility of the framework and evaluate certain performance measures with the help of a case study.<>
