The following topics were dealt with: passive optical multi-access networks; high traffic throughput LAN using wavelength division multiplexing (WDM); wavelength routed optical networks; passive signalling in optical fibre multiple access networks; wavelength and time switching using semiconductor nonlinear optical amplifiers; optical time-multiplexed switch; optoelectronic sampling receiver for TDMA networks; WDM source, system performance; acousto-optic tunable filters for WDM optical fibre systems; LiNbO3 optical waveguide switch for optical circuit protection; and optical switching with directional coupler switches and delay lines.
