Abstract :
Whilst the range of possible contaminants in polymers is extensive, certain types have been observed to occur more frequently. The authors characterise the relative effects on dielectric strength of the more common inclusion, that of irregular shaped aluminium particles approximately 10-150 μm in size. A bond percolation model is used to analyse failure measurements of polyethylene plaques containing a known volume fraction of aluminium particles
