Abstract
The paper describes the day to day operation of a flight inspection unit. It includes an explanation and description of the main processes and decision making which are necessary for the overall co-ordination and control of a flight inspection programme. Each part, whilst different, has to be supportive of all the other parts if flight calibration is to be successfully carried out. The paper is mainly aimed at the problem areas as seen by operations but it also touches on other disciplines as they affect the overall programme. The usual day to day problems experienced in the operation of two aircraft are discussed. It is shown how the periodicity of each radio navigation aid is monitored
