  • Abstract
Wavelets are used in the numerical simulation of scattering of electromagnetic waves from randomly rough surfaces. Owing to the multiresolution analysis, orthogonality, vanishing moment properties of the wavelets, very sparse impedance matrices in the method of moments (MoM) are obtained. In the new algorithm, the majority entries in the matrix are evaluated using a single-point quadrature formula. Because of the high efficiency and precision of the new algorithm, it is now feasible to handle 3D scattering problems numerically. Examples and comparisons are provided for 2D scattering problems
