Abstract
This document describes some design considerations for a modern naval fire control and tracking radar. The main purpose of this type of system is to track one, or sometimes a few, targets extremely accurately. Some of the basic design considerations have not changed considerably over the years, even if the solution is different due to e.g. increased processor capacity. This paper will briefly outline some of these basic considerations but will concentrate on the areas where new considerations affect the design.
