Abstract
This letter presents a new analytical model for the mechanism of message forwarding in a delay tolerant network with epidemic routing, namely, susceptible-infected-path-loss (SIPL). The model considers the effects of path loss and interference on the network performance. Simulation results are compared to the SIPL predictions. A good fit is provided when the network presents low node density.
