Abstract :
The structure and complexion of dynamic models of automotive vehicles makes particular demands on the techniques available for control system design. Currently, general control design methods do not exist for nonlinear dynamical systems and there is a requirement for fundamental research aimed at providing practical techniques which can be used to support the development of safety critical controllers for such systems. Research aimed at providing tools for the design of nonlinear control systems needs to be applications driven. However such research also requires a sound theoretical basis involving a substantial mathematics input
