Video, having no sprocket holes or edge numbers, utilises an electronic means of numbering the frames called time code. A continuous, frame by frame count which is used in all areas of production and post production, and has enabled various tasks to be automated. Time code principles are applied to film originated material for use with `off-line´ edits, and consequent film confirmation, either to produce an `on-line´ edited transfer, or indeed to cut the original negative
