  • Abstract
    Independent Television Facilities Centre (ITFC) has the responsibility for all acquired material owned by the Independent Television Network. The Centre is responsible for some 50000 titles, comprising over 30000 separate items. Many of the items were badly scratched, and all needed cleaning. For cleaning the film a cold fluid process was chosen. The machines in use provide good wind tension and allow new reels to be spliced on without replacing, thus minimising handling and maximising throughput. By transferring the film stocks to videotape, the film can be retained as archive material. New film purchases are transferred to D2 tape format using telecines
