The basis for photodynamic dosimetry and consequences for light delivery systems

The author discusses the need to make physical measurements of the space irradiance in tissue in order to establish effective and repeatable treatment of patients using photodynamic therapy. Work on the development of fibre based detectors, which can be used to monitor the space irradiance, is examined. Implications for light delivery are also discussed
