Abstract
This paper investigates the effect of RF radiation on a multi-layered planar structure representing a simplified model of a human head at 900 MHz and 1800 MHz. The radiation is assumed in the form of obliquely incident plane EM wave. Exact formulas for the electric field within the structure are derived. The local Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) is calculated, plotted and compared with international levels. Numerical simulations are presented to show that the maximum local SAR calculated using our method for a planar multilayered head model agrees well with FDTD results for a dipole or monopole illuminating a spherical multilayered head model.
