Abstract
There is a requirement to disseminate the capabilities of computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-based simulation (CBS) to undergraduate power engineers in an apposite and academically acceptable fashion, but there are few immediately suitable software packages. This paper considers the necessity for, and discusses the application of, CAD and CBS in undergraduate teaching in Energy Systems in the Department of Electrical Engineering in the University of Edinburgh
