Foreword

The American Automatic Control Council (AACC) is pleased to sponsor the second American Control Conference in San Francisco. We welcome you to both the Conference and this beautiful city. The participating organizations of the AACC - IEEE, ISA, ASME, AlChE and AIAA have worked hard and contributed much of their skills to the planning and implementation of the Second ACC. There are fifty-three technical sessions consisting of contributed and invited papers featuring a balance of theory and applications. The program has been designed to have parallel sessions in several tracks so as to satisfy the particular interest of the participants with different backgrounds. For example, there are six sessions in computer control, six sessions related to computer aided design and automation and four in power systems.
