Abstract :
The Water Management Agencies have experienced the effects of electrical interference resulting from lightning activity at water treatment facilities for many years. The introduction of more sensitive electronic equipment including computers to systems for instrumentation, control and automation has required considerably more study and application of protective methods to maintain a high level of reliability. The case study examines the mechanisms of lightning interference on data and telephone lines and describes some of the protective methods employed in the industry
