Abstract
The author demonstrates that the closed approach he normally adopts when undertaking systems development in a purchaser/supplier relationship leads to a less satisfactory development in certain areas of overall system quality than if he adopts a more collaborative approach. In particular, he examines the definition and verification of non-functional attributes (NFAs) of a system.
