Abstract
At the end of their first year, computer science undergraduates at Hull University take part in group project practical work. This is designed to give the students experience in working on a large software project, as part of a team and in working for and after other people. It was largely to see how well the students had benefited from this experience that a similarly structured follow up exercise was carried out in the second year. The initial group project work was sponsored by the Ford Motor Company, but they were not actively involved in the running of the project. There was no industrial involvement in the follow up project. The author gives an overview of the projects.<>
