Abstract :
In this paper, we present new methods for simulation of narrowband wireless channels for mobile-to-mobile communication. Since the statistical properties of these channels are different from typical cellular radio channels, new methods are needed for their simulation. We present a "double ring" model to simulate the mobile-to-mobile local scattering environment and use it to develop a sum-of-sinusoids based method for simulating these channels. In addition, we also propose a modification to the IFFT filtering based method for simulating these channels. The simulation methods and scattering environment presented here can help the designers of mobile-to-mobile communication systems to simulate and verify system performance under various channel impairments.
