Abstract :
We overview reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexer (ROADM) implementations with fixed frequency, and colorless and directionless (CD) functionalities. Considering the modules required to implement these architectures, we evaluate the energy consumption, footprint and cost, and analyze the impact of the survivability scheme in these parameters.
