Abstract :
High-power solid-state amplifiers are often configured in practice from assemblies of lower-power amplifier modules, using power-combining techniques. The basic question addressed by this contribution is how to arrive at the most economic configuration of the overall system to meet given specifications in terms of output power and levels of gain compression, from a given set of primary amplifiers of known cost and characteristics
