  • Abstract
eXCeS (extended X-window based control engineering workstation) is an open environment for supporting all stages of the design process for control systems. It is firmly based on the alternative approach described above, and has been designed using modern methods of software engineering. The eXCeS environment has been developed using the evolutionary approach. The first phase of development has provided the kernel of the environment including several generic tools, modules for data management and inter-tool communications and tools for block diagram construction and manipulation. Further tools and modules will be added later
