Abstract :
We report on the resonant modes in micro-luminescence spectra of whispering gallery microcavities combining dielectric microspheres and J-aggregates of cyanine dye. We use fluorescence lifetime imaging spectroscopy to study modification of spontaneous emission rate in J-aggregates attached to a microcavity. Directional emission of light from the integrated microcavity is experimentally shown in this work and attributed to the photonic jets generated in the microsphere. The results show that whispering gallery resonators with dye nano-aggregates can be used as micro-organic light-emitting devices.
