Abstract
WAVE (W-Band Analysis and VErification) is a new project proposed for the Italian Space Agency (ASI) to design and develop a W-band geostationary payload aimed at the experimental studies of the W-band channel and possible utilization in satellite data communications. In this paper, an overall description of this mission is presented, in addition to the different atmospheric parameters that affect signal propagation. The overall attenuation at both uplink (81-86 GHz) and downlink (71-76 GHz) frequencies is briefly discussed introducing also the simulation results at the Earth stations of Rome and Spino D´Adda
