  • Abstract
    Interference is one of the predominant factors that determine the performance of the wireless communication networks. The recent increasing interest in Quality of Service (QoS) and Quality of Experience (QoE) has motivated the development of interference evaluation capable of capturing the characteristics of the networks. Consequently, a great number of methods to evaluate the interference can be found, which describe the effects of interference on different layers. Among these methods, some focus on the statistical characteristics of the jamming signals depending on physical layer parameters and others are interested in the effects of interference on higher layers. This paper presents a comprehensive survey of interference evaluation techniques for wireless communication systems, emphasizing their features and domains of applications, illustrated with examples. It is noted that no matter which evaluation method is used, the characteristics of the interference and the networks will be obtained, which is of great importance and necessity for designing and optimizing the wireless communication system, both in commercial and military fields.
