Abstract :
Orotron research began in the United States in 1979 at Harry Diamond Laboratories (HDL), following 15 years of successful research in Japan and the Soviet Union. Results and goals of the HDL program and several closely related pro grams by researchers from Dartmouth College, Georgia Institute of Technology, Northrop Corporation, and Stanford Research International will be discussed.
