Abstract :
It is a relatively simple procedure to compute the power delivered to a load supplied by an ideal lossless transmission line. In this case, all the power supplied by the source is delivered to the load because there is no loss on the line. In a lossy line, however, the attenuation of the signal as it propagates down the line is accompanied by ohmic losses and the power supplied by the source is no longer the power delivered to the load. Both frequency- and time-domain approaches are used to compute the real and reactive power of a load fed by a lossy power transmission line. This is shown to apply equally well to lossless power lines
