Abstract
Analysis of the architectures of modern software defined radios (SDRs) has shown that their adaptivity, re-configurability, and performance are insufficient for future communication systems. Most drawbacks of modern SDRs are caused by inefficiency of conventional sampling and reconstruction, inflexibility of the best conventional antialiasing filters, and incompatibility of these filters´ technologies with integrated circuit (IC) technology. Novel sampling and reconstruction techniques with internal antialiasing filtering allow us to get rid of these drawbacks and provide additional advantages. Challenges of the techniques´ implementation are analyzed. Measures and methods to surmount these challenges are proposed. Influence of these techniques on the architectures and parameters of SDRs is discussed
