Abstract :
Imaging endoscopes constitute a key device in medical praxis. The ability to access internal cavities through any tubular duct of the human body makes endoscopy a powerful tool for performing diagnostics, treatments and surgical procedures in a minimally invasive way. Optical fibers have enabled the implementation of flexible devices, enhancing the guidance capacity and reducing patient´s discomfort. The core of fiber endoscopes is a coherent fiber bundle that transmits the image from the distal to the proximal end maintaining the spatial characteristics of the image. In this work, we analyze the impact of crosstalk in the contrast of the image as a mean of evaluating the quality of the endoscope in terms of a useful parameter from the clinical point of view.
