  • Abstract
Photonic crystal fibres (PCFs), silica nanowires and silica aerogel are all structures which deploy the high index contrast between silica glass and air to enhance photonic functionality. We shall discuss the latest results in nonlinear wavelength conversion and sensing using PCFs and aerogels.
