Abstract :
Toroidal motor is a new type of motor. The basic structure of the motor is introduced. The voltage equation of the coils is given and the electromagnetic torque is deduced. The changes of the inductances along with the position angle of the planet for the model machine are measured, and then the fitting inductance curve and function are constructed. The transient of the voltage equation with constant speed of the motor is solved. The response of the current to exciting voltage is analyzed, the phenomenon of currents beats is discovered. The system equation with changing speed of the motor and load is also given. The torque-speed characteristic of toroidal motor is presented. A number of useful results are obtained. These results are significant for further research and control of the motor.
