Abstract
Model integration is a difficult task. The difficulty is partly due to the complexity of representing each individual model and model relationships, and partly due to the lack of uniform references to model components. Object-oriented database systems have the capability of depicting different levels of data abstraction and assigning a unique identifier to each object. By applying object-oriented representation techniques, models and their relationships can be better expressed. By assigning object identifiers to model components, the problem of uniform references becomes easier to solve. The authors show a logical flow linking integration related modeling activities. They illustrate how model relationships are detected through the concept of object predicates. A procedure to implement model integration is also discussed
