Abstract :
In this paper, a new method for solving the parameter estimation problem of water quality model using improved PSO technique is presented. In the improved PSO, the inertial weight decreasing function is a parabola opening upwards rather than the popular linearly decreasing line. In order to demonstrate the scheme, numerical experiments were operated on dissolved oxygen (DO) and biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) model. The results show that the proposed method is still effective even if there is the case of additive noise to exact data.
