Abstract
The Claremont GDSS support environment (CGS environment), described, extends the capabilities of teams using existing GDSS packages by providing a meta-environment that allows users to move seamlessly from activity to activity, using the best available software for each activity. The CGS environment is based on running existing applications in an architecture that relies on the Windows interface. The architecture assumes that most meetings are planned in advance which allows time to create a customized environment for the meeting. By introducing the concept of an `information package´, it is possible for the user to have available the specific data and tools associated with each topic being covered in a meeting. The CGS environment allows users to do private work as well as participate in meeting activities. Capabilities include working with several applications simultaneously, accessing their own applications and data files during the meeting, communicating with other participants through E-mail, and obtaining information specific to the current meeting
