Abstract
Water-in-oil microemulsions are transparent, optically isotropic, thermodynamically stable, liquid systems consisting of spherical water droplets stabilized by a surfactant shell and dispersed in a continuous hydrocarbon medium. The dielectric behaviour of such systems shows, in the frequency range (10-100)MHz, absorption phenomena caused by interfacial polarization. The authors describe a method for the determination of the dielectric parameters of highly conducting liquid dispersions exhibiting a Maxwell-Wagner absorption at frequencies where also the residual inductance contribution must be taken into account. An example of how the method works will be reported for a three-component water/oil microemulsion consisting of water, perfluoropolyether (PFPE) oil and perfluoropolyether surfactant
