  • Abstract
    This paper expatiates a modified test way and the gear-tooth bending fatigue strength of 12 China-made steel gears because their endurance limits were found lower than that IS06336 or GB3480 commended. A integrated R-S-N curve is completed combining the group test method with up-down test method. The result shows that their bending fatigue limit stresses are equivalent to what IS06336 or GB3480 offers. It is necessary to use the up-down method to determine the endurance limits expect the traditional group test method. The keen cycle number Nk on the bending fatigue R-S-N curve is not at the point N0 which is much smaller than Nk.
