Abstract :
A zero crossover AC power source has been utilised to eliminate transient overvoltages and overvoltages occurring with an increasing magnitude of applied voltage. The zero AC power source will be defined as the following; an AC power source which will produce a sinusoidal alternating voltage with a commercial frequency (50 Hz) from ground to an established peak value of the voltage. The paper presents the results of partial discharge characteristics using the zero AC voltage. In particular, the relationship between inception voltage and number of tests, and time lags is described
